Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How many session will I need to feel better?
A: After your initial evaluation session, we are able to determine the direction for your exercise therapy, or sports initiative, if proper training is your goal. Everybody heals or excels at a different pace. We will have open communication with you as to your issues and process of therapy, or goal setting for training. If you schedule exercise therapy at the early signs of a problem, the timeframe in therapy is often short. If you have been dealing with your issues for quite a while, healing typically does takes longer. The body makes gradual changes to the positive stimulus from the proper therapeutic program.
Q: Will I be scheduled with different clinician for my various sessions?
A: No, you will normally have the same clinician for all of your sessions. The only reason you would have an alternate clinician is if occasionally your scheduling needs change significantly or if your clinician is on a short vacation. But rest assured that we work as a team. Whenever we see a client, we are fully aware of your issues, your current treatments and the level of progress you’ve achieved.
Q: Will I need my doctors referral to get exercise therapy?
A: No, you will not need a prescription from your physician. If you have seen your physician for your pain or injury, we will refer to that physician to learn any of guidelines or limitations suggested by them. We believe that evaluation information from your physician is an asset at the outset of your therapy.
Q: My life is on overload. How can I fit 1 or 2 therapy appointments into my week?
A: We will do our best to schedule your appointments to fit your busy life. We schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. If your appointments meet your scheduling needs, it will be easier for you to maintain what is necessary to heal.
Q: I know you offer private sessions, but if your schedule is full will you have me share a room with another patient?
A: You will never share a room with another patient at our clinic. You are always guaranteed a private session with undivided attention from your clinician and confidential communication.
Q: How often will I need to see my doctor once I start exercise therapy?
A: Your doctor will tell you when he wants to see you for a re-check of your issues. We communicate with your doctor regularly with progress reports as to your improvement.
Q: I need to lose weight. Do I join your wellness program to do this?
A: Yes. Balanced nutrition and exercise go hand-in-hand to achieve a healthy body weight. Our multi-disciplined approach includes nutritional education and guidance. We discuss what comprises healthy eating without feeling deprived. We give you specific suggestions and advice. We address healthy nutritional habits also with clients who we see for their injury or pain syndrome.
Q: Can I continue to play in my sport while I’m in exercise therapy?
A: Most often you will continue with your normal activities while you attend exercise therapy sessions. While strengthening your weak areas, we will teach you how to handle the movements and demands of your activities. At Fit For Life, we believe that your therapy is complete only when you are stabilized, strengthened and prepared to do the activities of your daily life without pain or imminent re-injury.
Q: What if my pain doesn’t go away?
A: Due to our personalized environment and highly trained staff dedicated to one client per hour, most often our clients experience healing of their issue even if they previously haven’t had success in other therapy settings. However, if we don’t see the expected results, we will refer to you to a specialist to address and diagnose your needs.
